Colin Carmichael
With decades of Executive Search experience across virtually every industry, hundreds of organizations and thousands of searches, Colin Carmichael has developed a strong reputation and recognition within the industry. His tenure has afforded him a deep network and a methodology that has made him one of the most successful and longest-tenured search consultants in the country. Colin leads oxford + richmond as the organization's President + Managing Partner.
Background
Together with David Birrell, Colin co-founded Carmichael Birrell & Co. Inc. in 1990 and went on to build it into one of the preeminent, boutique retained executive search firms in the country with a focus on North America and Europe.
Colin’s search practice is diverse, covering a broad spectrum of industries throughout Canada, the United States and Europe, with a focus on senior management, executive and Board appointment positions. He has undertaken hundreds of diverse projects across all functional disciplines and industry sectors.
Colin is known for developing strong client partnerships and has a well-established reputation for his hands-on, no-nonsense, results-focused approach delivered with a sense of urgency and commitment to client deadlines.
Colin is French / English bilingual.
Education
Colin has a Diplome D’Etudes Collegiales, Psychology from John Abbott College and attended the University of Waterloo in their International/ Global Studies Program. In 2015, Colin received a 3 year culinary arts/ chef training certificate from George Brown College.
Personal
Colin has acted as Division Chair for the United Way and continues to fundraise for numerous non-profit organizations. He enjoys exercising his passion for competitive sports playing hockey, volleyball, golf, curling, skiing, sailing and fitness. In addition to these activities, Colin enjoys cooking, fine dining, international travel, fishing, and spending time on Georgian Bay with his wife, two children and their families including three grandchildren.
